PROFESSIONAL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER WITH EXPERIENCE

YOUR ROLE:

As the Structural Engineer, with oversight from the Senior Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for performing structural analysis, designing task and modeling assignments for a variety of building types, sizes, and materials as well as the delivery of substantial portions of project work ranging from conceptual design to final construction documentation.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Leadership

  • Work with the Senior Engineer to ensure the overall design intent of the project.

  • Provide expertise in the technical aspects of the structural design including code compliance, specifications, systems integration and constructability.

  • Resolve technical issues, work with other disciplines, and meet aggressive schedules and budgets.

Management

  • Work with the Senior Engineer to ensure the overall design intent of the project.

  • Provide expertise in the technical aspects of the structural design including code compliance, specifications, systems integration and constructability.

  • Resolve technical issues, work with other disciplines, and meet aggressive schedules and budgets.

Staff Development

  • Mentor the work of less experienced staff.

  • Provide technical support and project communications to less experienced team members as required.

 Project Quality

  • Work Closely with team members, contributing and soliciting ideas while assisting in the completion of projects on aggressive schedules.

  • Perform all work in a clear, complete, an accurate manner.

  • Seek input form other senior staff on technical matters to improve the final project output

  • Work on multiple project types and delivery methods.

  • Coordinate and communicate with other disciplines on projects.

  • Carefully review work for accuracy before submitting to others for final review

  • Regularly communicate with Project Manager (s), Project Designer (s) and /or Project Architects (s) to understand any changes to project design, scope, schedule and budget.

  • Use design software / technology, including Revit, AutoCAD, RISA and other emerging technologies, for presentation and production purposes.

  • Act as an ambassador for company-wide values and ethical standards of practice.

Financial

  • Produce contract documents that are efficient and consistent with the scope of work, schedule and feel allotted to complete the work.

  • Exhibit professionalism when working with client representatives and leadership regarding their area of expertise.

 YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and professional licensure.  Master’s degree preferred, but not required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of post-graduate experience.

  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles and practices.  Strong knowledge of design techniques and tools involved in the production of documents, models, plans, and details

  • Ability to work in collaboration with other senior team members to reach solutions to complex problems.

  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance/quality control processes. Strong knowledge of building codes, and the ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents

  • Strong knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD is required.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook required.

  • Must possess the ability to communicate professionally with people within all levels of the organization (s) they represent

  • Ability to effectively meet project deadlines and budgets and assist other less experienced team members to meet the same goals, as needed.

ENTRY-LEVEL ENGINEER

YOUR ROLE

As a Graduate Structural Engineer, you are an entry level engineer who, with oversight and assistance from other more senior engineers, will be responsible for performing structural analysis, designing task and modeling assignments for a variety of building types, sizes, and materials as well as the delivery of portions of project work ranging from conceptual design to final construction documentation.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Project Quality

  • Understand the overall design intent of the project and the importance of incorporating it into the detailed documentation. Bring design thinking to the process of producing contract documents.

  • Work on multiple project types and delivery methods. Prepare building models and detailed contract documents. Work closely with team members in the completion of projects on aggressive schedules.

  • Some responsibility for technical coordination of projects with other internal disciplines and outside consultants.

  • Develop project specifications in coordination with drawings.

  • Perform all work in a clear, complete, and accurate manner. Carefully review work for accuracy before submitting to others for final review.

  • Regularly communicate with  Senior Structural Engineers to understand any changes to project design, scope, schedule and budget. Alert the Senior Structural Engineer when a change in scope of work changes.

  • Coordinate use and track shared electronic documentation and files with internal and external project team members including clients, contractors and consultants.

  • Use design software/technology, including Revit, AutoCAD, and other emerging technologies for presentation and production purposes.

  • Act as an ambassador for company-wide values and ethical standards of practice.

  • Attend and actively participate in team meetings and activities.

  • Maintain a positive relationship of trust with Client Leadership regarding their area of expertise.

  • Embrace the iterative nature of the design process and execute work in a timely manner.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent in education. Passed Fundamentals of Engineering exam (or in process.)

  • Minimum of 0 – 5 years of experience.

  • Knowledge of Revit or AutoCAD required. Knowledge of design techniques and tools involved in the production of documents, models, plans, and details.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook required.

  • Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation skills. Ability to communicate professionally to people both internally and externally within all levels of the organization(s) they represent.

  • Ability to coordinate and integrate work effectively with designers, engineers, construction administrators, consultants and any other members of the project team.

  • Ability to produce construction drawings and specifications. Basic knowledge of building codes, and the ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents.

  • Knowledge of quality assurance/quality control processes.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable working under pressure in multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Ability to successfully prioritize work, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
